does early childhood education have an affect on future success?

Task: You must create a 10-15 question survey that is related to the topic of your annotated
bibliography/research topic. Some of your topics will have a very clear connection to a survey,
others may have to be a bit more creative. But either way, we can work together to figure out
the best option of who to survey for this assignment.
It is helpful to think about the goal of the surveyi.e. what are you trying to find out? Who do
you need to talk to to get that information? What questions should you ask to meet that goal?
You can ask questions about the topic, but can also include some demographic questionsi.e.
age, race, year in school or educational background, income.
What you will hand in:
A. A 10-15 question survey that adheres to the good survey question principles and is
formatted in a way that is clear & easy to read.
B. A short discussion of sampling and mode of administration (about 1 page, double-spaced). It
should include the following information:
Who would you survey?
Which sampling strategy would you use, and why?
What would you use as your sampling frame (if using a probability sampling method)?
Which mode of administration would you use to distribute your survey?
Would you use any incentives to facilitate recruitment of participants?
How will this be evaluated?
This assignment is worth 10 pts
Part A- up to 7 pts

Have at least 10 questions that could be used to collect data to help answer your
research question
Questions and answer options should adhere to survey question principlesi.e. they
should not be leading, should not use jargon, answer options should be exhaustive &
mutually exclusive, etc.
Be formatted in a way that is easy to read/understand/fill-out, have no typos or
grammatical errors.
Should mostly be closed-ended questions, with open-ended questions used when
needed/makes sense to ask
Part B- up to 3 pts
In order to receive full credit, you should have a clear discussion of:
Who you will survey
How you will recruit them
How you will administer the survey
*Sampling method must be identified & justification for selecting it must be providedi.e. if
you are surveying police officers in Albany, a logical sampling frame would be a roster of police
officers employed by the city, and then you could use simple random or stratified sampling. But
other populations of interest may not have a sampling frame, so you would want to use a
different methodlike snowball.
